Best of the Worst - Star Slammer, Talos, and The Apple

RedLetterMedia's "Best of the Worst" Episode 141.

I won't spoil it but the ambition and execution of what they do at the end is what elevates this episode above the average.

Best of the Worst - Plinketto #12

The boys watch 3 movies based on the randomization of a not-so-legally-distinct Plinko board.

Of interest to me, and perhaps to you, they watch "The Peanut Butter Solution" which I covered myself here. It's fun to see that our thoughts mesh well. Of particular note: we both compare "The Peanut Butter Solution" to "Rosemary's Baby," which is wildly specific.

Best of the Worst: Terror Squad, Back from Hell, and Traxx

A really solid "Best of the Worst" where they discover "Traxx" - perhaps an all-timer.

BOTW - Cade: The Tortured Crossing

Speaking of bad movies, Neil Breen has a new one. Well, not "new" but RLM spaces these things out a bit.

If an hour and twenty minutes is too long for you, you can skip to 45 minutes to get the short recap.

But if you do have the time to watch the full episode, then if you've come this far perhaps you can come a little farther. Read the description on the youtube page.

Tommy Wiseau's Got a New One

The new trailer for Tommy Wiseau's new movie "Big Shark":

Do you see how it stops being a trailer mid-way through? And the official website doesn't work. And sometimes it does work and just goes to Tommy's store. Yeah, that sounds about right.

Meanwhile, someone on Reddit says that Greg Sestero said the trailer is just a joke trailer with no real movie incoming. But so far, the rest of the internet is taking it seriously. We shall see.

Best of the Worst: New Releases!

This episode is notable as, according to Jay's Twitter, it contains the second-worst movie he's ever seen. Further, the panel all agrees it's the worst movie they've ever watched on the show (but that's not so unusual).

Plus: Rich Evans has a new catchphrase.

Rifftrax - Birdemic Discussion

This is one of my favorite videos of all-time. And yet, as far as I can tell, I never posted it. Is that possible? How is that possible?

The full Rifftrax movie is now on youtube: here.

Rifftrax - Replica

I thought this one was quite good. Rifftrax covers "Replica," another movie from James Nguyen, creator of "Birdemic." This one came before "Birdemic" so, you know, it isn't as polished or sophisticated.

When the dollar amount came out to be a childishly round number, I stood and clapped.

Ralph Machio vs. Steve Vai in a Guitar Battle

The first time I saw this scene, I basically saw it the way you are now. There used to be a local station that played cheapish movies late on Sunday nights and one time I tuned in late and saw this scene. I don't think I saw any context of the rest of the movie, I was just presented with this... and I was transfixed. It was so insane but I loved it.

Since then I've seen the movie and I can give it some explanation even though it will still make no sense. This is a scene in the movie "Crossroads" where Ralph Macchio has gone down to the crossroads to duel with one of Satan's minions for the ownership of someone's soul. See how that works?

It's the "WWF Wrestling" nature of it that's so delicious. Every note of the guitar is translated into full-body expression so the people in the back row can really see every nuance. And, yes, when one is vanquished via guitar solo, he doesn't just say "oh, I can't play that", no, he drops to the floor, collapses, in utter defeat.

A bit of trivia: in reality, Steve Vai is playing both parts.

Game Grumps - Bad Ben

Is "Bad Ben" the greatest game they've ever played?

Watching this, it sounded to me like someone with a Western Pennsylvania accent trying to do a Chicago accent and (being not very good) slipping into a Wisconsin accent. Is there any possibility I'm right? Well, I did some mild research and the guy appears to currently live in New Jersey so I'll take that something approximating a win.
