Re:View - Popeye
This is labelled as re:Visit not re:View but I don't understand the difference.
I have no opinion of "Popeye." I may have seen it but I'm not even sure about that. But this is just a great discussion about an interesting movie, if you're into that.

Re:View - Andor
The Prequels ambitiously attempted to tackle two very big subjects. 1) How the Republic (or any Republic) devolves into tyranny. 2) How a Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader. And, again, it's like poetry, they rhyme - it's the Fall on the micro scale and the Fall on the largest macro scale.
But the attempt at great themes is a very minor credit, as the execution is terrible. And most of the most terrible movies are the most terrible movies because they are similarly ambitious. "Plan 9...," "The Room," "Birdemic." The humor is in the gap between what the movie tries to be and what it turns out to be.

Re:View - Pee-wee's Big Adventure
I may re-visit "Big Top Pee-wee." It was always my favorite of the two but this seems to imply it's not very good. I really liked the Rube Goldberg device in "Big Top" and remember really liking the 80s babe love interest. Those two things were the only things that mattered so maybe that's throwing me off.
My favorite joke in "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" is this one:
It's clever, it's goofy, it's perfectly setup but still a surprise. So good.

Re:View - Temple of Doom
"Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" was the first Indiana Jones movie I ever saw and I loved it. When I was a little older and finally saw "Raiders of the Lost Ark" I was a little disappointed - it was clear to me that "Temple..." was the better movie. I was surprised to learn that that is the minority opinion.
These days, the only thing that's clear to me is that my favorite of the trilogy is "Last Crusade." "Temple of Doom" is so dark and weird and the action is so ridiculous, judging between that and "Raiders" is a battle between my brain and heart. Or it's a battle between me as a child and me as an adult. Fortunately it doesn't matter and no one cares. That raft thing is so inexcusable though...

Re:View - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
A round-table discussion of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie from 1990.
I learned about TMNT from a friend showing me the cartoon and, like Jay, I decided that would be my thing: I would collect all of them. Of course I never had a shot at accomplishing that goal, the corporations were amazing at pumping them out at a torrential pace, but I probably had more TMNT toys than any other "line" at any stage of childhood.
Earlier this year I found in an old box the TMNT movie novelization book that you would buy from Scholastic in those years. And I read it in present day and then I re-watched the movie. But I didn't come up with any original or interesting angle to take to create a worthy blog post about it. But I still remember going to see the original movies in the theater right when they came out and having every pleasure center in my brain firing off at the same time.

Re:View - The Garbage Pail Kids Movie
When I was a kid there was a certain restaurant that sold Garbage Pail Kids and had a few arcade games and a pinball machine. I remember going there for breakfast and getting a quarter to play the arcade or getting money to buy Garbage Pail Kids. It was so much fun, so exciting.
So that's my memory of GPK. Now the movie on the other hand, I think I was unofficially not allowed to see it. At least that's my memory. So I have no nostalgic connection to the movie whatsoever.
The association of the He-Man movie and this movie is apt. They were both about things that I was obsessed with as a kid but I didn't see either movie until well after the magic had passed. And when I did see these movies, I was still excited for them but subtly or subconsciously aware that they weren't great.
I have The Garbage Pail Kids Movie officially rated as 2/10, which is extremely rare for me. I can't remember the last movie I rated so low. It's almost like it was their goal to make a movie with no redeeming qualities, for some reason. Yeah, I don't get it.

Re:View - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Jay watches "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" for the first time and I am there for it. Or is it "here for it." What's the millennial clickbait wording? I don't remember these things.
My review of this movie from 2012 here. I don't really have any update to it. The "infectious" line is true, it really grows on me. And I emphasize the score... more specifically, "The Ecstacy of Gold" has become one of my favorite songs in any movie.

Re:View - Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
A really interesting discussion on "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" I think this is the best Re:View they've ever done.

Mike and Jay break down the two "Bill and Ted" movies. So many explained references.

re:View - Hackers
Get out your keyboards, bios your motherboards and head for the garbage file - it's Hackers!
That bit towards the end had me laughing.

Re:View - Nothing But Trouble
I first watched "Nothing But Trouble" out of curiosity as it's the cinematic debut of Tupac Shakur and the song he appears on "Same Song" by Digital Underground also happens to be his musical debut. I would emphasize that although the movie makes for GREAT discussion, it's not bad enough to be good and it's certainly not good.
