The Penguin - The Escape

Burgess Meredith (as the Penguin) has a song???

As insane as it is, it's not so surprising. They made records for everything in the 60s. This track comes from an entire Batman album.

The comments section of this video speculates that The Penguin invented Gangsta Rap.

Best of the Worst: New Releases!

This episode is notable as, according to Jay's Twitter, it contains the second-worst movie he's ever seen. Further, the panel all agrees it's the worst movie they've ever watched on the show (but that's not so unusual).

Plus: Rich Evans has a new catchphrase.

Rifftrax Live is Doing Rad

Rifftrax has announced a new Kickstarter - they will be riffing over the 1986 BMX classic "Rad." Does anything else need to be said?

One thing that should be said is the tier that allows you to contribute a riff is already sold out. That was probably my only purpose in life and I didn't get a chance.

The live event is August 17th, so still a lot of time.

I wanted to list the stretch goals but don't see any listed.

Various TV Series Online

Just discovered a number of TV series are available online.

First, the entire series of Creature Comforts (The UK Version) is on youtube. Season 1 is above.

Secondly, the entire Batman (1966) TV show is on Amazon, free with ads. It's always been a goal of mine to watch every episode one day so I'm doing that.

The commercials during Batman, reveal that (as far as I can tell) every episode of "The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross" is also on Amazon, free with ads. With 31 seasons, you'd have to be a crazy person to watch them all, but I might. Though watching a PBS show with commercials feels like a violation.

The commercials during Batman also reveal that the episode of "Supermarket Sweeps" from the 90s are available to view. I was not really aware of this show but it strikes me as novel that one can watch old game shows. Will we get full seasons from the 1980s of "The Price is Right" next? Who knows. They already have the Family Feud with that creep Richard Dawkins.

Popcorn in Bed - Days of Thunder

I don't believe in "guilty pleasures" when it comes to movies - I like what I like, I see no need to feel guilt over a movie. But "Days of Thunder" is as close to a guilty pleasure as I come. I know it has a bad reputation, I have heard a million times how it's stupid and mediocre, I just can't agree. I watch it and see nothing to dislike, everything about screams "enjoyable entertainment."

But let's see what Cassie and Carly think...

The Darkness Reacts to The Charismatic Voice Reacts to The Darkness

I was wondering what happened to The Darkness. They seemed primed to take over the world in 2003 and then I never heard anything from them again.

The lead singer, Justin Hawkins, had a drug problem and left the band, but they've re-united many times and made a number of albums since then. Now Justin is a youtuber, hence this video. I like him but, being an aspiring youtuber, all his video titles are the worst kind of clickbait garbage, it makes it hard for me to explore anything. Oh well, I'll probably have a moment of weakness at some point.

Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand

Slow days on the blog, I suppose. Struggling with sleep and lethargy lately. Hopefully some Zeppelin will do the trick.

For anyone keeping score at home, this is my favorite Led Zeppelin song.

All authoritative sources says this is "Achilles Last Stand" with no apostrophe. I did a preliminary search to find out why, I found nothing. Achilles is the name of a man, he had a last stand, his name ends with an "S" so this should be "Achilles' Last Stand"... surely? Those rockers and their thumbing their nose at grammar. Actually, there's a part in the documentary "The Beatles: Get Back" where George Harrison is wondering if his lyrics are grammatically correct. He's one of the good ones though.

Watermelon Eating Tutorial

[Editor's Note: The original watermelon tutorial video was made private. I don't know why. So the original has been replaced with another watermelon tutorial.]

It was quite a long while ago that I shared The Old Man Eats Watermelon video. A friend recently alerted me to the fact that I'm missing out on his similar but less viral other hit: the watermelon eating tutorial.

I have to say, according to this video, I have been eating watermelon wrong for my entire life. I daresay no one in the world, except for this guy, has been eating it correctly. I believe strongly that I will not attempt the correct method at any point in the future.

The topic does raise a... topic... though. The question is: how much watermelon can you eat in one sitting? Winter is decreasing but still prevalent. But I plan, as of now, that when the weather is right, I will attempt to answer this question for myself. A man needs something to look forward to, after all.

Random Footage From a 1988 Burger King

The thumbnail shows that they're serving Pepsi products. The description explains that they switched over to Coke in 1990.

How weird would it be to be watching this in 2023 and see your 1988 self in the video? Of course, I suppose, you would go into it remembering being in a BK once and seeing someone with a camera, lessening the impact a great deal, but still.

The Best of Bad Acting

A nice overview of bad movie acting.
