Radiohead on Conan 1995

The official Conan channel posted this today. Radiohead play "Fake Plastic Trees" promoting their new album The Bends, 6/12/95.

Another data point where they seem perfectly happy to be there and are friendly to the host.

Late Night - Norm's MTV Beach House Story

Conan's youtube channel has officially released this classic appearance by Norm Macdonald.

There are a number of mysteries with this particular clip.
  1. I had every beat of this interview memorized and I don't remember where/how I watched it originally.
  2. Why does the video start whilst coming back from commercial? There's a first segment that's omitted. You can watch that here
  3. It's now 2025 and so we should be able to find and watch the MTV appearance Norm describes.  Norm was actually on for a week of shows, Days 1 through 4 are online, the incident should be found on Day 5 which did exist on the internet at one time, but has been thoroughly scrubbed from the internet. If you find it, let me know.

Late Show - Best of Conan Compilation

A compilation of Conan O'Brien on Letterman. Nothing new here - these are the same clips we've seen a million times - but they're all in one place and it's solid entertainment, regardless.

Talk Show Hosts Compared to the Conan Standard

There's a lot that I agree with here and there's quite a bit that I disagree with. I get the feeling that he started watching around "Conan" and doesn't know much prior to that. But overall, it's a worthwhile watch.

Late Night - Artie Kendall

It's a little Artie Kendall, come on.

The official Conan channel hasn't released a lot of Artie but that's ok, this one is my favorite.

More music from the 20's incoming...

Colton Dunn of Dudez A-Plenti

An interview with Colton Dunn, better known as Dan/Lorraine/Samantha, of Dudez A-Plenti.

One of the sneaky good qualities of the Dudez-A-Plenti pieces was how realistic it was. It seemed to me that the "band" might not even be in on the joke. But after repeated viewings, where I've concluded they must have, I then wonder how much of it was improvised.

Late Night - Broken New Year's Resolutions (1999)

Apropos of nothing, Conan and Andy (and Max) regret their broken New Year's resolutions from 1999.

Conan O'Brien Can't Stop Commentary Track

"Conan O'Brien Can't Stop" with commentary from Conan, Andy, Sona Movsesian, the Director of the movie, Mike Sweeney.

This upload has been up for 2 years so I'm assuming it's legal.

To read my full review of the movie see here.

Conan's Version of Rocktober

I know I've posted this before but I recently went on youtube and searched for these videos and found they're completely buried by the algorithm. In fact, they're so buried, even when I do an exact search from knowing the titles, there are hundreds of results that come first.

So I'm getting the word out here. A look back at the time Conan celebrated his own version of Rocktober for Late Night.

Happy Spocktober, Kelly LeBrocktober or Jaques Chiractober to all who celebrate!

Conan O'Brien Must Go Trailer

A sneak peak at Conan's new show set to air on HBO Max. The series is set to run for a full four episodes. Wow.

Is the title "Conan O'Brien Must Go" a play on the documentary "Conan O'Brien Can't Stop?" Who cares!

Late Night - Kid Focus Group

After the Late Night episode which featured a full audience of kids, Conan solicits focus group feedback.

The child audience show was real, by the way. And it's funny to see a young Jim Gaffigan here. My sense is, this isn't the only time he appeared on the show pre-fame.

Checking in with Jordan Schlansky

Conan catches up with Jordan but we really only cover looks and appearance. Did I say 90%, I mean 100%.

Dave Sends His Audience to Conan

This is one of those things where I would avoid spoiling the bit in the title, but the youtube video title already spoils it and if that weren't the case, the thumbnail spoils it in giant letters.

A fun piece from the 90s, nevertheless.

Conan - An Interview with Nell from Old Timey Baseball

Even though this is the most interesting clip in the entirety of Conan's youtube channel, it feels unsatisfying. The character of Nell is such a mystery and it's good to get some insights but every answer just leads to more questions and those questions don't get answered. I mean, there's a time travel group? You play a character for what purpose? Is this a job? And so on.

If you're not familiar with Nell, this is the origin:

Somewhere Conan said this was his favorite skit they had ever done.

Levon Helm on Conan

Levon Helm on Late Night performs "A Train Robbery" and "The Weight".

I thought for sure this was on the blog somewhere. Turns out it's from before the blog started.
