Norm Macdonald Live - The Top 3 Episodes

I just finished re-watching the entire run of "Norm Macdonald Live" and there's an episode that I thought deserved highlighting.

First off, I suppose if I had to pick the top two episodes, it would be David Letterman followed by Dana Carvey. But, looking back at the blog, I found that I made posts recommending those two exact episodes. I thought it was interesting that my tastes would be so consistent.

But the #3 episode is also great and it's the Bill Hader episode. I don't think of Bill Hader as a "big star" but he's funny, he's interesting, he has great stories, he's a likable guy and the show just seems to come together well. So if you'd like, you can watch that episode here.

So, there you go, the Top 3 episodes of "Norm Macdonald Live" according to me.

Stefon Finale

Stefon stops by (for the last time?) to offer tourists some hot spot suggestions:

I was thinking that maybe this segment had jumped the shark. Maybe Hader's laughing at his own jokes more than the audience*. Perhaps. But then you get to a thing like "human R2-D2" and you realize that, like it or not, this is a brand of writing you won't find anywhere else.

* In his defense, certain jokes are hidden from him ahead of time so he ends up hearing them for the first time as he speaks. For better or worse, the whole thing is specifically designed to get him to crack.

Stefon's Guide to New York

I don't know how many times I have to say it - when you're writing a skit where you're having trouble staying in character, do NOT write in midgets. I say it again and again and somehow nobody listens. It almost makes me think that the writers of SNL aren't reading my blog but that's impossible.
