Scorch Update for April 2025

Checking in on Scorch.

Scorch is on tour, living the dream, without Meghan who can't be on because selling old napkin holders for 25 cents each takes priority. Scorch still has the antagonistic relationship with the chat, which is why I stopped watching regularly.

Catching Up with Tom Myers

Tom Myers took a break for the Summer and is back with a backlog of terrible, old jokes.

The other day someone mentioned that they asked AI something and then were too afraid to ask a further follow-up. I kind of understand that. I'm curious what AI Tom Myers would do but I'm also fearful to see what it's capable of. Whether or not the world is ready, I'm not ready.

Yet More Tom Myers Jokes

I worry that in the current state of  things, my blog might become too Tom Myers heavy. There are two forces at work: I'm not finding a lot of good videos and I can't get enough of Tom Myers' unique brand of nonsensical non-humor joke product. If it's too much, please forgive me.

I also get a kick out of the blunt thumbnail. "What do we want to say about Tom Myers?"

"Tom Myers Stinks."

WATP - Tom Myers' New Monologue

Yo, a new Tom Myers monologue just dropped. The WATP crowd is known for being a bit critical, it's what they do, but in this case I think they went too easy with this. This is not comedy, these are not even jokes, this is just words strung together into sentences and nothing else. Absolutely incredible.

WATP - Oozebear

Oozebear is a "user-generated improv podcast." I don't know exactly what that means but... wow.

Stuttering John vs. Phones

John is at his mom's house when the fans start calling on the phone. Is John smart enough to figure out how to get the ringing to stop?

A Little More Tom Myers!

What I like about Tom Myers' comedy is: it makes you laugh but you get the news at the same time. It's entertaining AND informative.

WATP - Tom Myers, The World's Worst Comedian

And not only is Tom Myers the World's Worst Comedian, this video purports to relay the worst joke ever. It's a bold claim, Cotton.

Things are Heating Up in the Dabbleverse

Apparently there is a sphere of the internet that revolves around mocking Stuttering John Melendez and this sphere is known as "The Dabbleverse." The "Jupiter" of this Dabbleverse is Karl from "Who Are These Podcasts?" and there is currently a will they/won't they thing going on where Karl and John might do a show together.

I don't know Stuttering John and don't really have an opinion. The thing that I find particularly compelling is that he's recently started acting like a professional wrestler doing promos (without Mean Gene). Or a professional wrestler crossed with Howard Beal from "Network"... crossed with just general "dumb guy" off the street. That's entertainment.

The Chad Zumock Saga

Small-time stand-up comedian Chad Zumock is doing a podcast when he gets a threatening message on his phone that includes a photo of his house. Later that night he's back on youtube with a black eye and a story about how thugs - perhaps sent by Anthony Cumia (of Opie and Anthony fame) - attacked him. Is he lying? Is it true? Does the truth lie somewhere in the middle?

I know that "True Crime Podcasts" are especially hot these days, is there room for a "True Dumb Crime" genre?

WATP - Harrison Young and Nick Payne

Who Are These Podcasts? looks at the public access show of Harrison Young who is still on the air in 2022. Then they go down the rabbit hole on Nick Payne (XXII) who is simultaneously a sibling and a spouse of the Kardashians.

WATP - Old Grandma Stern

"Who Are These Podcasts" checks in with Howard Stern's current radio show and, in the ultimate plot twist, Howard Stern has become a nagging grandmother who's obsessed with imposing her rules on others.

I've never had a strong opinion on Stern one way or the other but I find this to be a fascinating reflection on the craziness and unpredictability of life. If you're in the 90s listening to "shock jock king of all media" Howard Stern and you try to predict what will become of him in the future, you would never predict this. And yet this is the reality that has unfolded.
